1986 – 1994 Studied in Japan under Kazuo Ohno and other renowned Japanese masters of scenic arts.  

In 1984 Collini Sartor performed alongside Ellen Stewart in the theatre La Mama, New York. Later on in 1986 he worked with her in Oedipus in Colona, performed in Spoleto, Italy.

Since 1986, this dancer and actor travelled and lived in Italy, Austria, Germany, France and Japan with a special purpose: to come near the father of Butoh dance, Kazuo Ohno, in order to absorb his teachings in situ and develop them based on an in-depth knowledge of the original sources. Thus begun his decade’s long association with Kazuo Ohno and his son Yoshito in Venice and at the University of Vienna, Austria. That is how Collini Sartor who emerged from theatre, found in this way of dance his true road to self expression.

In 1987 in Venice Collini Sartor established the “Teatro delle Immagini” which participated in the “XLIII Biennale Internazionale d’arte di Venecia” representing Argentina and the Italian Latin American Institute. The same year Collini Sartor moved to Japan to continue his studies under Master Ohno.  

In 1988, he studied under Grotoswski in Pontedera, Italy and in France at the The Voice in the International Centre Roy Hart. In Japan he studied with the Japanese singer, Michiko Hirayama, Zen and Gregorian chanting. He has also studied with various prominent actors from the Kabuki and Noh Theatre.

 

Collini directed and acted in the following theatre performances:

1988 – 9 Romeo and Juliet, Theatre Carlo Goldoni, Venice, Italy. Khema, Life and Soul Transformations, various theatres in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

1989 Il mondo non mi vuole più e non lo sa, homage to Pier Paolo Pasolini, film maker and poet, various theatres in Italy.

1991 Antigone, Sofocles,  Theatre Carlo Goldoni, Venice, Italy.

1991 – 1993 Papaveri, supervised by Kazuo Ohno, Festival of the Orient and the West, Robedo, Italy.

1994 Ki (Tree), Japan – Argentina Expo, The Rural, Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Android (solo dance), National Encounter of Acoustic Ecology, Bariloche, Argentina

1994 he established “Mundo Butoh” in Argentina with the aim of combining Tango of Buenos Aires with Butoh in order to disseminate the oriental aesthetics in South America.

1998, he choreographed and directed a dance / theatre piece that commemorated the 100th year Anniversary of the Japanese Immigration to Argentina. It was staged at the Opera House Colon Theatre. In the same year he travelled to Japan to participate in the Asbestos – Kan workshops, the Butoh school of Master Tastumi Hijikata.

2003 he produced and acted Shinkiro Mystery Tales of Japan, in which he starred together with the renowned Argentinean actress, Mme. Claudia Lapaco at the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires. 

2004 he participated in the seminars titled, “Japan Millenary Culture / Young Culture” organised by the Centro Cultural Konex. There he taught at workshops and he premiered his show, The Rose of Hiroshima.

Collini Sartor is the creator of the Theatre piece Tango Butoh and of Shinkiro Mystery Tales of Japan, and wrote the first book in Spanish about Butoh: Kazuo Ohno - The Last Emperor of Dance.  

Collini Sartor teaches numerous Butoh workshops in Canada, USA, Japan, Europe and Argentina.

He produced and directed Tango-Butoh TV, a television series in 15 programmes broadcasted in Argentina and other countries.

He designed an itinerant photographic exhibition Protestar Bailando that shows his performances through the works of well known photographers from various countries.

Seminar

1986

"Love - Hate, Life and Death of Romeo and Juliet" from Shakespeare.

Shown in the Carlo Goldoni Theater in Venice, on occasion of the XLIII Bienal International of Art in 1988, representing the Argentine Republic and afterwards making an artistic tour through Italy.

1989

"The world does not want me anymore and does not know it", Hommage to the poet and cinema director Pier Paolo Passolini, with artistic tour through different cities in Italy

"Papaveri" (Poppies). "The man was a tree". With the supervision of Master Kazuo Ohno and Yoshito Ohno in the East-West Festival carried out in Roberedo (Italy). Also shown in the Goldoni Theater, show organised by the Consulate of the Argentine Republic in Venice and sponsored by the Cultural Department of the Ministery of Foreign Affairs of the Argentine Republic. Artistic tour through different cities in Italy.

1992

February 1994

"The androgyne". Dance for a single dancer presented by Collini Sartor in the National Encounter of Acoustic Ecology carried out in the Musical Camping in San Carlos de Bariloche (Argentina).

July 1995

"Butoh Tango". Show presented in the theater Roberto Arlt from the Theater Complex La Plaza in Buenos Aires, with the participation of the bandoneón player Daniel Binelli on the scene. Sponsored by the Municipality of Buenos Aires and the Embassy of Japan.
